Studies in photography are also provided as part of a graphic design course. This institution is very active on the international scene and was host to the conference 'The Other Side of Photography' (Photo education) in 1989.

Final qualification:Diploma in Photography [Diploma]

Course level is Equivalent to a University degree in THE NETHERLANDS

The course is designed for full-time students

Minimum age of students at entry is 18

THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS ARE:
1. A diploma giving entrance to higher education or equivalent. Exemptions are possible. 2. Satisfactory results on an entrance examination. This is an investiation into the candidates general suitability and their visual talents. The exam consists of a review of the portfolio and a discussion with a committee comprised of lecturers and a student.

REQUIREMENTS WHICH ARE ESSENTIAL FOR ENTRY ONTO THE COURSE ARE:

• Evidence of creative or artistic ability by presentation of a folio or test.

REQUIREMENTS WHICH ARE DESIRABLE FOR ENTRY ONTO THE COURSE ARE:

• Some professional experience in a job of which photography was a part.
• A lower level course in photography or a course of which photography was part.
• A lower level of course of which general art or graphics was a part.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
In 1989 the Gerrit Rietveld Academie hosted a major seminar for teachers and students of photography.
