STUDY INFORMATION:

The Department of Media (formerly, the Department of Radio, Film and Television) is one of the best resourced in the UK, with state of the
art digital equipment in video and radio facilities, as well as traditional 16mm film equipment.

The Department balances and integrates theory with practice offering, good technical and creative opportunities within an academic and
critical framework. It is housed in the recently constructed Powell building, which was named after Canterbury born film maker Michael
Powell by his widow Thelma Schoonmaker Powell (Scorsese's editor), at a ceremony in October 1999.

Links with the media industry are good, particularly with the BBC who have a studio within the Department, and Sky Television who offer a
scholarship to the Department.

Visiting lecturers include Tony Garnett, Thelma Schoonmaker (Powell), Jeremy Isaacs, Piers Plowright and Ian Christie. The resident
scriptwriting tutor is international playwright Goran Stefanovski from former-Yugoslavia.
